With the majority of our days being consumed by screens, it is necessary to take a break. From playing board games to embroidering, there are a ton of things to resort to. One way I’ve been doing such is through reading. Hence, I’ve compiled a list of some good books from my recent reads.
Here are some good books to escape that screen fatigue:
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho tells the story of Santiago, a shepherd boy. After a dream pointing him to treasure under the Egyptian pyramids, he set out to find it. To complete his Personal Legend he must listen to the universe and follow his heart. This book explores the idea of destiny, purpose, and all the above. It offers a refreshingly different story than that of a typical young adult book. It is a short powerful book, sharing with the reader insightful wisdom.
The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown
The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown follows the race of symbologist Robert Langdon and cryptologist Sophie Neveu to find the Holy Grail. With clues being revealed to the reader at the same time as the characters, it allows the reader to uncover mysteries alongside Langdon. This fast-paced thriller offers an exciting escape from reality. After reading the book, you can watch the movie starring Tom Hanks to compare or read more of the Robert Langdon series.
The Bazaar of Bad Dreams by Stephen King
This collection of 21 short stories by Stephen King explore themes of morality and guilt. Each story features King’s classic terror while exploring a unique concept. As the reader engages more and more with the books, they begin to see how each short story connects. The short stories allow for a reader to start the book without offering a large time commitment.
The light-hearted thriller by Dan Brown, the philosophical story by Paulo Coelho, or the collection of short stories by Stephen King offers a variety for book lovers of all genres to check out.
