How to survive social distancing

Updated: Apr 14, 2020

Hi everyone, we hope this little newsletter finds you in good health! We hope you are all practicing social distancing and staying safe! Remember to stay active and keep a positive mindset! We know it can get tricky being isolated and cooped up inside so here are some tips to make this time a bit easier:

Things To Do:

- Journal: This is a historical time period! Record what’s going on in your life! One day your journal could be an important piece of historical evidence and the future generations could be using it in school!

- Keep In Touch With Others: Facetime, Text, Zoom, Skype, etc.

- Reconnect with old friends: Now is a perfect time to catch up on lost time and reach out to someone who you may not have talked to in a while, chances are that it’ll brighten their day

- Volunteer Online: There are countless ways to stay involved and give back during this difficult time form the safety of your home! Here’s a great article that will get you started!

- Create a Playlist: Now is a great time to create a new playlist or detox the old!

- Read a book:

  • The Jetsetters by Amanda Ward

  • Educated by Tara Westover

  • Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarity

  • The Paris Architect by Charles Belfoure

  • A Man Called O by Frederik Backman

  • Dry by Jared and Neal Shusterman

-Watch a movie or a show (but remember to get up and active every once in a while):

  • The Platform on Netflix

  • Parasite (If haven’t already go check out our review here!))

  • The Cutting Edge (the 1992 version with Moira Kelly because the originals are better)

  • Unstoppable

  • The Other Guys

  • Amy (because we all need a little more Amy Winehouse in our lives)

  • Modern Love on Amazon Prime

  • The Walking Dead

  • The Marvelous Ms. Maisel (there are no words for this TV go watch it on Amazon Prime)

  • Tiger King

  • Workin’ Moms

  • Manhunt: The Unabomber

  • Miss Americana

-Clean/ Organize: Now is the time to Spring Clean! Refresh your closet, bedroom, and bathroom! This is a great way to feel in control and do what you’ve been meaning to since the New year!

-Detox your phone: Delete unwanted photos and apps you no longer use! Clear out your contacts and texts and give your phone a good wipe down to be sure it’s nice and clean!

-DIY: There are tons and tons of DIYs you can do! Revamp your clothing or your space or create something fun and new!

Helpful Reminders:

-Moderate your News Intake: It is important to stay informed but it can often be overwhelming!

-Look on the Bright Side: Try to stay optimistic but cut yourself some slack but acknowledge the difficulty of this time!

-Acknowledge the Challenge: It is a stressful time and it is important to recognize that! Go easy on yourself and reach out for help if you need it. There is a lot going on in the world. We know that this break gives us all a lot more time and you may feel the pressure to make the most of it and be productive but remember that it is okay if you don’t!
